Angry 94 Astro wont start

4.3 vortec, vin W. Van quit running yeterday. After diagnosis discovered power to fuel pump but no fuel output. Changed fuel pump as well as the relay and have fuel output. Bled air from lines at the shrader valve. It still will not start / run without starter fluid. Also no fuel coming out of the return line next to the inlet line at the manifold. I cannot figure it out. Any Ideas?

Re: 94 Astro wont start

Dear Flatlines,
I just fixed a problem with my 94 Astro that involved the electrical connector that feeds power to the engines computer. I found a posting on this very website by a user named dparkwood. You can read his posting from 12-20-2003. Basically there is a four wire "GM weather pac" connector behind the battery that plugs into a terminal that feeds 12v power to the fuse block, which include the ECU. After removing the battery you can access this connector. What happens is that the metal connector inside the plug breaks and starts arcing, which creates heat and starts to melt the plastic body of the connector, causing the gap in the metal to increase until no electricity gets sent to the ECU and bam you car won't run. The ECU controls many engine functions, include operation of the electronic fuel pump. Give this suggestion a try. Good luck.

If you find that this connector is bad, send me an email at [email protected] and I will send you the GM part#. I had a heck of a time tracking this thing down.

Re: 94 Astro wont start

Take a look at the thread by SPARKS390, entitled "1996 ASTRO will not start"

That might help also
