Angry Audio amplifier fuse keep burning out

hi guys, i have a sound system with an amplifier connected to the subs.
Behind every amp. there is a small 20amp fuse, mine was burnt. I purchased 5 more fuses, when i plugged them back into the amp. teh subs started pounding. However the back of every amplifier is very tempting, as you can play with the boost levels to increase the bass level.
i played with the levels, and the fuse burnt, after this, every fuse i plug in instantly burns out,
i even tried to lower the bass levels, and other options, nothing seems to work, fuses are keep burning

any ideas what i can do ? thanks

Well, of course you are going to have an amp up to the subs, otherwise it will not work properly...do not talk about this is you dont know what you are saying. Honestly, you should sell your system, if you dont know how to use it. You can check not only the "bass boost" but how about the gains? are they too high? how bout your power power? does it have an in-line fuse on it? and if so, is it hooked up properly, is it the right size? do you have a good ground? are your wires shorting our anywhere? is the fuse on your amp supposed to be a 20A or bigger? there are a lot of things that could be wrong.

Im not exactly sure what you are trying to say, i know much more than many other people about car audio, as i have installed many full audio systems on my car, or even friend's.... Im not stupid, ..

have respect for others, other people do not think like you do sir...

this is not a common problem to come across, all wirings are perfectly done, and are connected to where they are suppose to be connected to!

however, after increasing the boost, the fuse burnt out, now that i even decrease the boost level, lower than normal, the fuse still burns out instantly!

....and i don't know about sound system? I have a degree in electrical, and have been working with car audio more than you probably have.

Re: Audio amplifier fuse keep burning out

i checked the whole wiring...everything is perfect.

for a test, i plugged in only the 12v ( wire coming from + terminal battery) , and only the ground wire to the amp, and still, as soon as fuse is inserted to the back of amp. it burns out. The ground wire is in a good place. all boost levels on amp have been turned to the lowest level.

any suggestions? thanks

Well, if you really have a "degree in electrical" then why do you not know what is going on? And yes, i do happen to know a lot about this. I own a very successful car auido sales and installation company in my city. I have one of the most respected cars in town, I am always in the top five in sound quality/SPL in competitions. I have installed many many systems, some costing thousands of dollars. I have done lots of work with custom fiberglass and wood encloursures. I do know what I am talking about and am very expeirienced. If this problem is so common (which I have not really run into), and if you have done so much work on so many systems, then why i must ask...do you really have a problem figuring it out? After all...you have a "degree in electrical" and have installed many systems comming across a very common problem. As well, when you refer to "bass boost" do you mean your parametric eq? your gains? your hpf? lpf? many things not just "bass boost". As well, if you have been working with Car Audio so much, I do not understand why I had to give you step by step instructions (a couple pages long) on how to take out and replace the factory deck with a new one. It does not seem to me as if you really have worked with car audio all that much, although I may be wrong, that is just how it seems. I am not trying to really cut you down, I am just saying that for a guy who says it is so common, i am surprised you can not figure it out. As well, i do not believe that you answered my question about your power wire having an in-line fuse or not, and if so, is it the proper size? I want to help you, and I apologize for commin across so harsh, but please I do know what I am talking about. What are all of the components in your system (deck, speakers, subs, amp, cap, battery) just let me know and I will see if I can figure something (anything) out as to why it is doing that. Hope I can help out!

Re: Audio amplifier fuse keep burning out

hi, im sorry i did not realize you were the big man who helped out, my apologies to you, you were a great help.

i checked all the wires, (12v, and the ground), everything is perfectly in position. Unfortunately the only possible solution to figure out what's going on is to possibly open up the amplifier, and check the main wiring, and i will look for problems there, i do believe that the amp is causing problems, since the wiring is done perfectly.
again, my apologies to you, and if you have any other suggestions please do email me. Thanks
Ali

To see if its the amp before you break it open, swap it with a known good amp, one that you preferibly borrow from a friend thats been using his, please do this before you open the amp.

Ali:
Yes, that is a very good suggestion from hkdl. Do this in addition to what I suggested in the e-mail I sent you. The last thing you want to do is open up an amp, especially when you dont have to, there is just so many things taht can go wrong.
