Actually no. I've been in the car quite a few times but I have never taken one out on the road.

Awesome photos - thanks for the little peeks at automotive perfection!

I see you got that CAR Magazine with the 0-100-0 test from Ebay.

Also - how badass are those Facom tools? I always find myself drooling over them in the Griots Garage catalog.

One last thing - can someone explain the relation to Surrey and Woking. I'm not quite clear on it actually - we always say the cars are built in Woking, but the chassis plaque clearly calls it Surrey. Was Surrey where the chassis were fabricated and Woking where the final assembly took place? That seems like it might be the case from what I'm remembering at the moment.

Woking is a town at the north end of the county of Surrey. Surrey is situated to the south west of London.

Woking itself is a pretty unremarkable and crap town. It is notable for very little except that Paul Weller and the Jam came from here and quite a while ago, H. G Wells lived here for a bit. It was during this time that he wrote the War of the Worlds. So despite what Hollywood would have you believe, the aliens landed on common land about a mile north of Woking town centre.

Edited to say:

I reckon the reason the plates don't say Woking on them is that the carbon parts were manufactured at McLaren Composites which at that time was situated just south of Guildford, a slightly bigger town about 8 miles to the south of Woking. McLaren Composites has now moved to the south coast.

It's a flat carbon piece about 30mm long. It has the F1 logo etched into it.

The orange thing is the screwdriver needed to open the panels on the car. The LM (and GTR, presumably) have these dzus-type fasteners that secure the engine cover, side panel doors, nose panel, etc. instead of the handles and latches that are found on the roadcar. I think the dzus fasteners were a McLaren invention from the early 1980s.

Let's play a game: the chassis number can be found in 2 places in that last photo... the first is obviously on the plaque... where is the second?
