96 Concorde lxi issue with back lights

Hello all

I would appreciate anyones help with this weird situation.

Every so often, when I turn off the car, the back brake lights will stay on. I have to fiddle around with the fuse box, start the car, turn the key every way possible and then the brake lights finally turn off. I don't know which action turns them off either, I just keep at it and at some point, they turn off.

Anybody know what this is due to and how to fix it???

Thanks in advance, Marc

The next time it happens, pull the brake pedal up (towards steering wheel) if light's go off then its the brake light switch, it should be a self adjusting on first time use switch, try and bring it up (plunger) then apply brake, this adjusts it to correct down position by ratchetting down the plunger, failing that replace switch with a new one.
