dual carb air filters problem?

I recently fitted two ram flow air filters to my car. I managed to keep most of the vacuum lines intact. I only blocked off the line that goes from the air box to a sensor, then to the inlet manifold. The vacuum feed that drives the cold start flap thing and the other hoses on this piece. The other hoses that go from the carb mouth to sensor to carb mouth are still in tact, as is the hose on the carb top cap to sensor to carb top. D15bitch said he got good gains out of this mod, sure it sounds good, but i dont think its any faster. D15bitch? what did you block off? Sure you werent tricked into thinking your going faster buy the increased indection noise? Can anyone help with any other ideas?

Did you remove the complete filter box? If so, you need to put a breather filter onto the crankcase breather. The hoses on top of the carb lids are for athmospheric pressure. Don't block those off. The hose from the air vent solenoid to the airbox can be blocked, as well as the hose from the manifold. Tell me, did you put your filters straight onto the carb throats, or did you attach induction tubing to the carb throats with filters at the ends of the induction tubing. If so it is understandable that you don't feel any difference. Take a look at the following link. The pic shows where the filters go. Have a look to see if your vacuum setup looks the same. Some guys have told me that their D15B4 vacuum setups are different from my ZC Dual Carb.

If possible, try and include some pics so I can see which hoses and which sensors you are talking about. Even better if you can indicate them on the pic, to compare with my vacuum setup. I do think it may be something as small as blocking some hoses and opening others.

If I was tricked, then I was tricked along with many others who have done the same mods and gotten excellent results. But don't fret. I'm sure we can find the problem and sort it out for you.

My filters are straight into the carb throats, but i have used ram flo designed filters, so that the vac hose from the carb throat can be attacted back to the sensor. Ok so the solenoid on the IM is a air vent soleniod, i blocked the air box end, i might try the manifld end too, i tried unplugging it, but it when worse. The hoses on the carb lids are still attatched to their sensor, i have tried blocking and unblocking the third hose from this sensor that goes to the steel tubing, do you have this blocked or unblocked? I will have a few more tries with it today. Thanks, i'll keep you posted.
