hold the pieces while painting them
What are you guys using to hold the different parts while you paint them with a spray can or an airbrush ?
I am trying to find out a good and easy solution but I can't find !! Thanks in advance Steve Last edited by xim-crow; 01-29-2004 at 07:56 AM. |

Re: hold the pieces while painting them
peices?... i use toothpick thru the lil holes, or i use bluetak, but only on peices i dont want to have paint on, eg: gluing parts.
its not very practical, but it works fine.... (i just hate the cleaning of hands afterwards) so now i wear gloves ^^" hope this helps. afterwards, to dry, let it stand in playdough, but since i dont' have any, i leave it to stand inbetween some left over sprues.... like i said, not convenient, but it does the job. |

that's easy.. chopsticks with heavy duty double sided foam tape.. see my testarossa build thread.

Re: hold the pieces while painting them
I use toothpicks and clothespins and masking tape. I also wear dishwashing gloves to keep the paint off the hands.

Re: Re: hold the pieces while painting them
- Toothpicks
- bluetak (in Belgium we call that 'Patafix') - Masking tape - I let the part on the tree, paint it, cut it, sand it and finally paint the rest. - I use a 'third-hand'; it's used to hold the electronical integrated circuits. It's made of two crocodile-clips fixed on a supoprt. - I also use crocodile clips attached to wires or long wooden sticks. Xav |

Tiny drops of super glue on dressmakers pins works well, but my favorite is blutak and sprue.

Re: hold the pieces while painting them
i dont know if this is more effective than their suggetions, but i cut off teh section of the part tree, that is around the part being painted, i buy a 100 pack of disposable latex gloves, for about 8-9 dollars, and just hold the part of the tree that is connected to the part
