Hey I dropped by the dealership where I got my car to pick up the Aluminium Pedals for my Tib, and I was talking with the head of the Parts Department. We were talking about differant problems that you could expect by installing aftermarket parts and how that would affect the warrenty. Anyway so we were chatting for about 20 mins when I asked about the aftermarket parts on the Tiburons, that I heard here. So here are the facts I've heard so far.
1) Hyundai IS coming out with aftermarket parts. (Just for the Tiburon, so you can't swap it out and put it into another car...which is great!!) 2) Hyundai are coming out with, Turbo kits, Supercharger Kits, lowering supsension kits, and catback exhaust (sorry, long day on the spelling) 3) The parts were supposed to come out in Dec, but Hyundai pushed back the date to work ALL THE BUGS OUT. (Just like the Carbon Cover for the Santa Fe, took 8 months to come out because they pushed back the dates)....so don't worry they are coming .... course the downside is that we have NO definate sell date ...( I also called the dealer in Factoria to confirm...and they said the same thing) Oh and just on a COMPLETLY different note.... ....so funny!! |

Im gonna guess that this stuff doesnt come out til the end of this quarter if not next. Hopefully the parts will be covered by warranty (pretty sure they will be) but none of that means dick to me until i see some #'s, but im like u guys cant wait. Saving up anyway, i bet this stuff is gonna get pounced on as soon as it comes out

I posted a thread on this topic a few weeks ago. I still haven't gotten any information about performance gains, priceing, or applications yet, but as soon as I do I will be getting prices together on some group buys, since I am a parts manager at a Hyundai dealership. According to my newsletter I received from Hyundai, there isn't going to be a cat-back exhaust offered as of yet. H.A.R.D. is going to consist of Eibach springs, MSD ignition systems, and BSC supercharger and turbo kits. There are going to be 32 different products available, which leads you to believe since there are only 4 different items, these are going to be offered on most Hyundai models. Hopefully, I will receive more info on these items soon because I know there is going to be a high demand for these products, and if I can save all of you some money, we will all be set.

Re: Hyundai Factory Aftermarket Parts...Coming SOON. The dealer said so...
well that's still good news, kinda unfortunate about the exhaust right away, but that doesn't mean it won't ever happen
. It would be great to get some group buys. Question on the group buys though, would that mean that we would buy the parts from you, and then you would have the parts delivered to the local dealer that we get our Tibs serviced at so they can be installed?.... or am I mistaken? Can't wait to see some numbers |

Also, I wanted to ask, since you're the parts manager, you might know. If someone were to buy something minor as muffler tips etc, could someone at Hyundai install those for us or would that create a "void the warrenty" sort of deals?. I wouldn't think so, but still I wanted to check

As far as installation at your local Hyundai dealership, I will have to check when I get more information on whether if customer installed HARD parts are still covered. If we do a group buy from me, then I will ship the parts straight to you, not another dealership, because, technically they can argue that I'm stealing their business. However, it is a competitive world we live in, and you have to fight for your own if you want to make any money. That will be a factor in this too. Some dealers won't care where you bought it from and still install it for you, but some will not.
As far as exhaust tips, etc. . .Something that minor, it doesn't matter who installs it, you will still have a warranty. Only thing it will void is if you have the tips welded on, and that section of exhaust goes bad for some reason (rust, etc.), then the dealer might not warranty it. Some dealers don't care, because they are still making money whether it's warranty or not. A lot of times customers don't want to spend the money and then the dealer loses business and the customer finds another dealer that will cover it. We had a kid bring in an 03 Tib, aftermarket exhaust, intake, etc. . .We replaced his first clutch under warranty at 4k miles. No, he didn't know how to drive. His 2nd clutch at 11k miles we did not cover. This was not a decision by us, but by Hyundai themselves because nobody should be going through clutches that fast unless you can't drive. I know the kid abused it and didn't know how to drive because I had raced him on the road before in my 02 Eclipse GT. We did cover the first one, even with the performance mods. A lot of it is up to the dealership, but most of the time they will cover it. I'm amazed myself as to what we cover here sometimes. Lady spilled a coke on her console of her Sante Fe, shorted out the autostick, but we warrantied it. Customer satisfaction is a big deal nowadays. I'll keep everybody informed as I receive info on the HARD parts. What about superchargers? Here's one I found, check out the #'s on it. I heard this guy makes them for Hyundai, Kia, etc. It doesn't happen to be the same as H.A.R.D.'s, is it? Anyone? It's the one I want to get.
http://www.alpine-developments.co.za...iburon_2.7.htm Also, what about Shark-Racing's parts? They have a dual catback exhaust system boasting 15 HP gain. Any kind of warranty on any of their stuff? They've got alot of it. http://www.sharkracing.com/main.html

The only warranty on anything from Alpine Developments and Shark Racing is that companies own warranty. The make the parts for Hyundai vehicles but not for Hyundai the corporation, therefore, they are not endorsed by Hyundai by any means, and there wouldn't be any warranty through Hyundai on any of their parts or any parts that are connected with the superchargers from Alpine. If you put on an Alpine supercharger, you will void the Hyundai warranty on the engine and strictly rely on the warranty offered by Alpine Developments. The only aftermarket parts that Hyundai will cover under warranty are going to be parts sold by Hyundai. You will not be able to buy these parts from anybody other than a Hyundai dealership.

Re: Hyundai Factory Aftermarket Parts...Coming SOON. The dealer said so...
Ok i have a "part time" job at a toyota dealer in North Van. I work in the parts area and i have access to the Hayundia computers because Jim Pattison owns a hayundia, toyota and many other dealers.
WEll they are not coming out with a turbo kit for the Tib. They will offer a SC tho. They will have lowering springs available but they are not very good. And a few other dress up components. Thats what i pulled right off the computer. |
