'92 Escort In search for more HP

Hi,

I have a 1992 Ford Escort clx 1600cc manual european version (made in germany ).
I want to know if it would be possible to install a new, twin carburators in the car instead of the standard, single carb.
And if so, what would be the estimated power gain?
And can someone tell how the fuel economy will rise?
Finally, i really wanna put some more power to the car, but kinda low on budget, so what can i do in order to get some more hp?
