99 silverado door hinge problem

My doors make a really loud ugly noise every time they open. I've sprayed the crap out of them with different kinds of lubes but its still there. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had the same problem with my 1999 Silverado, and i bought some white grease and sprayed the hinges down really well. That seem to fix the problem. You'll have to keep greasing them though.

Re: 99 silverado door hinge problem

I think if you were to watch the pin in the notched brace that holds your door open, you would find that the holes in the bracket on the truck are worn letting the brace 'POP' when it goes from one notch to the other.

I don't know how you are supposed to fix the problem without replacing the bracket, which looks like more than minor surgery to me.

What I do is bend the bracket on the truck up at an angle, just a little, this takes the slack out of the holes that the pin goes through.

This 'fix' is probably not gonna work forever, but it will prolong the trip to the body shop to get the bracket replaced, and besides, it's already worn so what's it gonna hurt? It makes the noise go away.
