Yukon defrost keeps running!

Front defrost blowers running at full speed with ignition off and key out. Front HVAC controls do not work when vehicle is running and the defrost runs constantly. Pulled the FRONT HVAC fuse - no problem with it - and it shuts the front HVAC down. Removed battery terminal for several minutes, reconnected, replaced the fuse, everything is back to normal. HVAC works fine. 2 days later...shut the vehicle off and the defrost starts blowing again. HELP!

Yukon defrost

We have had the same problem with our '02 Yukon XL, actually 5 times over the last year and more often recently. It always seems to happen in the winter months here is Minnesota. Each time, the dealer has replaced some module to fix it. But now after five times, they are working with GM to find a solution but have said that it may be caused by excess static electricity and nothing may be done to prevent it from happening. Do you buy this, cause I don't?

Does this sound crazy or what?

Re: Yukon defrost

Maybe, maybe not. Mine happened after a very dry, cold period here in GA, and I know for a fact that I shocked myself several times on the lower consol and near the dash. Maybe this sensor switch is located in a bad spot?
Took it to the dealer today and they've seen this before. Just ran over the 36k mark, but they are letting me use the $100 deductible towards the repair. Sounds like it is a popular issue.
I sure hate to think this is going to happen over and over and over again!

Re: Re: Yukon defrost

Thanks for the update. We have heard a whole different tune from our end. The dealer has been claiming this is not a common problem which is why they just keep trying different things. Luckily, we are still under warranty. Here's the latest just in. The dealer will be rerouting the wiring behind the dash in an attempt to prevent the static electricity from causing this issue. It sounds you are also on this same track of reasoning. I sure hopes this fixes it. Probably won't know for awhile as it's a sporadic problem. Will let you know how it goes.

Re: Re: Yukon defrost

It just happened again. Only two weeks after they fixed it, again. So we will be making another trip into the dealer, again. It happened at last night, so we were forced to disconnent the battery to stop the defrost fan from running. This is the 6th time it has happened.

Any update on your end? Did they fix yours.

Re: Yukon defrost keeps running!

Why don't you just cut into the circuit with a manual switch? That way you can shut it down when it fs.up, and leave the switch on when it works OK....check on the amperage because you may have to use a relay.
