Re: Sugar in the gas tank...eek!

lol, wow, who did he piss off??? might i recomend to your friend, you, and anyone else who reads these posts, get a locking gas cap.

but as to what steps to take, hes going to have to drop his gas tank, flush it, replace his fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel sending unit. the lines will have to be flushed, injectors will have to be cleaned, once you put it all back together, a can of BG 44K would be a good idea, its a fuel system cleaner used by dealerships, its like 14 bucks, worth the price. i would reccomend having the dealership handle it, just cuz its a pain in the ass, and afterwords, all the work should have a warranty so that if it fails again, you dont have to pay for any more parts. sugar in the system creates lots of problems, and it hides lots of places, so its best for the sake of covering his ass, to let the dealership do it. just my two cents.

Re: Sugar in the gas tank...eek!

Sugar does not desolve in gas. It will settle on the bottom of the tank and as long as you dont go to long before you fill it up it should stay there. I would not worry about it. It is a myth that sugar distroys your engine. It will probably be on Mythbusters soon.

Re: Sugar in the gas tank...eek!

awsome show...which leads me to my question. why is it always sugar. is there some kindof chemical reaction or something? if not, how come we never hear about pepper in the gas tank, or perhaps flour? is this situation flavor specific or will any seasoning do?...

it will dissolve,,,,, do this and you'll get a good idea what CAN happen
(been done to me a few time's) go to the stove get a OLD pan (you don't want) pan on stove, on HIGH, drop hand full of sugar in,watch
REMOVE FROM HEAT BEFORE FIRE!!!!!!!!!! let cool try to clean......
that can happen in the combustion chamber, .....normaly a system
flush with filters, maybe a carb kit, most people don't use Enough
sugar to do the job correctly thank god

you beat me to it. Gasoline can breakdown certian plastics, certian rubbers, even eat at your skin. What would make you think it would not dizzolve sugar?

Re: Sugar in the gas tank...eek!

yeah man, it definately dissolves, we did a job at work last month on a car with sugar in the gas tank. it was a mess. you wanna really screw up someones shit, cut up a ping pong ball, or styrofoam peanuts, and force em down in there, worse than sugar even.

you should try cleaning maple syrup outa your engine. i guy at my high school a few years ago had maple syrup in his tank, and he ended up changing injectors, flushing the tank etc. of course he probly deserved it, he was a real retard. this guy ran into a giant green dumpster in a giant empty parking lot in broad daylight.

maple? but it's a syrup, on a cold day you'd be suprised how long it takes for a thick syrup to disolve in gas
