Red face These Daytime running lights SUCK!!!

Hi All,

I have a 2k 528i. Love the ride but I'm sorry....these daytime running lights make the car look ugly!!!!.

Any one know how to disconnect them(in laymens terms) without disconnecting the hi beams as well? And, without being detected electronically?

Thanks....

Thanks 323imankiks,

But what I'm talking about is not Key fob related. These faint lights on the 5 series turn on once the car is started...and only shut off when the headlights are turned on. I want then not to go on when the car is started.

Thanks-

You didn't say if your car was a U.S. or Cdn. model.
All vehicles sold in Canada since 1990 are required by Cdn. law to have daytime running lights. The vehicle manufacturers have added a part which accomplishes this and which is not present on vehicles sold in the U.S. (unless the manufacturer opted to sell all its vehicles in North America with daytime running lights in which case the part is identical north or south of the border).
If your vehicle is Cdn. and its U.S. counterpart model does NOT have daytime running lights, it would simply be a matter of replacing the Cdn. part with the U.S. part and you would no longer have daytime running lights. Of course, you would be breaking the law by doing this if it is a Cdn. registered vehicle.
If it is an American model with daytime running lights your only hope would be to see if European, middle eastern or Japanese market units have daytime running lights. If not, you could again replace the controlling part in your car with the part from the non daytime running light model.
Having said all of that, many, many long term studies have been carried out on this exact point since the mid 1960's when Greyhound Bus Lines first started having their drivers keep their lights on at all times and the studies have shown that there is a statistically significant drop in collision rates for vehicles that have their lights on during daytime hours.
For what it's worth.

Re: These Daytime running lights SUCK!!!

Just go to BMW and tell them to turn off the daytime running light.
