Driveshaft noise, replaced twice

I have a 2003 Trailblazer ext 2wd. Ever since I bought it I get a sort of metal clinking noise when I shift Into reverse. Or If I take off with a sort of heavy foot you hear the clink. sometime louder that usual. They told me at the dealer that there are some defective drive shafts. so far they replaced it twice. its at the shop again right now. It cant be normal because why would they replace the shaft twice. when they replace it, it won't make the noise for about 3 weeks before it starts again. anyone else having this sort of problem. I'm ready to bring up the lemon law issue to them if they dont take care of this. I mean, the truck drive fine, but I am afraid that it may lead to a transmision problem or something. and for the money these trucks cost, there should not be any funny sounds when shifting into reverse or just backing up.

Is it the driveshaft or the u-joint? A loose joint usually creates a clunk you described. I chased a similar problem just to find out it was a loose motor mount. It could be the trans mount at the back of the trans.

Re: Driveshaft noise, replaced twice

but why when they replaced the driveshaft. the noise would stop for a few weeks. If it was the motor mount would'nt it keep making noise even if the driveshaft was replaced/

I am having this same problem with a 2004 trailblazer that I just purchased...did you ever determine and get the problem fixed. I was wondering if you determined what it was so i could pass it on to the shop when i take it in.

Exclamation driveshaft noise

For those of you that are experiencing this problem, please notify your dealer to call tech support for this and ask about the "special drive shaft" that they need to order and replace your current one. If they order the "normal part" for the trailblazer out of the parts book, they will not get the problem fixed....you will have the problem return within 3 to 6 weeks of driving. PLEASE stay on them to pursue this problem so you do not have to go through this multiple times.

Re: Driveshaft noise, replaced twice

I went to the dealer, and they finally told me there is a special order to fix this problem. I have to wait because its on backorder. I will post again when it's installed.

driveshaft noise

one of my friends recently had driveshafts replaced 5 times on his 2003 ext trailblazer, then contacted gm. They paid off his trailblazer and of course took it, but gave him 10,000 dollars for his trouble. They told him the problem with the driveshaft was that it contained aluminum and they had come up with a better replacement, but you had to ask for it. He just got tired of the runaround and went directly to gm.

Unhappy drive shaft repalcement

Hello
I have a new 2004 trail blazer not even a year old I've been hearing klinks since the beginning but never time to leave my vehicle to be fixed. Now they tell me the drive shaft has to be replaced. I also hear a whistle noise inside the car as though someone is in the care whislting loudly whether the car is moving or not. Aslo a ticking noise under the car also. Is this normal for a new car?
