XJ lift???

I am going to be purchasing a mid 90's XJ soon and have a few questions. I want to get a Rubicon Express 3.5in lift and 31 or 32in tires?? How high will the lift actually sit after install and how will its onroad capabilities be, it will be my daily driver, very little offroading. How easy is it to roll these things over, i know you have to be real careful, ive driven my friends 87 XJ alot and know how it feels stock, it wont rollover for anything which amazes me. Sorry for the long post, just want to make sure i have everything covered before i put money into a car. Thanks for the help guys.

with a 3.5 inch lift you will be cutting it close on the 32" tires clearing but since you do not plan on doing any heavy wheeling you most likely can get away with it. my 87 with 6.5" lift running 32 bfg's is my daily driver - when I did the first lift to 3" I felt it handled a whole lot better then stock, did not feel the body roll on corners as I did driving it stock - but prior to the XJ I owned a 81 CJ7 then a (3" lifted) 94 YJ so I was used to a stiffer ride then the stock XJ - I also do alot of traveling and I use the XJ. my advice is to stay with 31" tires and make sure to regear or you will see your MPG drop big time - I am currently getting on the highway (avg speed 75 mph) 20 mpg but before regearing I was getting 13

I would also recommend going with 31" tires. I have a 91 XJ with a 6" lift. I started with 31's and them went to 33x12.5's. Even with 6" of lift I had to do some fender trimming with a pair of cutters and a saw on the trail at Moab. It was fine on the street, but when I started articulating there was rubbing.

31's with a 3.5" lift is a great setup for on and off road.

I have a Cherokee with a Rancho 3 inch lift. It raised it a full 3 inches in front but only 1 inch in the back, as this vehicle is supposed to have a 2 inch rake anyways.
Still it looked funny so I added a leaf to the rear anyways.
As you go for bigger tires, try wider rims (at least 7 inch) with more of an offset. As you go up you should go out as well.

I would suggest to leave it alone if you are not off roading. A lift does not help on road handling, (unless your stock suspension is worn or damaged) all we can hope for is that it is not ruined too much.
