if anyone has an idea as to what might be the problem, let me know.
A few weeks ago, we had sub zero temperatures for a week and i did not drive my Jeep and let is sit outside because i was on the snowmobile almost all the time. I went to start it and let it warm up for a bit and after 15 minutes of idle, it stalled out and would not start. I pushed itno my shop and let it heat up overnight and the next day it started up fine. I drove it to the gas station and put a can of dry gas into it and drove it 80 miles back to college. now it is not quite as cold as it was (I am in Buffalo, NY) and now the problem has started again. it drives ok then it feels like it just isn't getting any gas and it boggs out on me. if i let it sit for a while and release some gass out of the valve near the injectors, it will start up again...for a bit. I put some more gas in the tank and added 2 more bottles of heet gas antifreeze and water evaporator but it continues to bogg out on me after every so often. I am wondering if my fuel filter and or pump is going bad (original parts, 74k miles) or if even after adding 1/2 tank of high octane and fuel system cleaner, the fuel is still bad and the water is freezing in the filter and or lines. or it could be something completely else. I dont beleive it is the electrical system or ignition system because when it starts, it revs like it is supposed to. If anyone has any thoughts please help. thanks |

I Just Blew 3 Fuel Pumps This Month That Same Way. This 3rd Pump Better Survive. I Am Going Broke. My Truck Did The Same Thing In The Popeye's Chicken Drive Thru. I Was Totally Embaressed. Then Turned Around And Had To Get A New Starter From Trying To Crank It.

Re: fuel problems???
Fuel pump? Those Jeep pumps are to say the least poor. Check your fuel pressure at the tire valve on the fuel rail. If its not up in the 40's change or check the regulator then the pump if it doesn't work out

Re: fuel problems???
I'm having the same problem right now. I've already changed the fuel filter once, now I guess I'm going to have to do it again!!! It's cold and I really don't want to!

Re: fuel problems???
Do you hear a rush of air when you open the gas cap after driving? Could be bad gas cap.
