where the hell is the heater control valve(95z28)

my 95 z is blowing cold air. i replaced the thermostat. still nothing. i bought a new heater control valve. but i cant find it under the hood to replace. it it behind the firewall with the heater core, or is something else causing it to blow cold air. please help if u can, its freakin cold outside!! thanks

could be your mode door, or the mode door actuator. it basicly controls how much air passes through your heater core, or around it. if its stuck in teh cold position, and wont move, no air is going through the heater core, so its not warm.

so is it part of the heater core, or a seperate part??

the mode door, heater control valve, and mode door actuator, are all seperate parts, also, your heater core could be clogged, or covered in mold or something, anything that dosnt allow heat to go from the heater core to the airflow, would cause your situation. best bet is to turn on the key, have someone stick their head under the dash, and turn the mode switch on the heater control head, back and forth, turn to the right, wait five seconds, and turn back to the left, wait five seconds, yadda yadda, you should be able to hear/see something move under the dash, either the actuator, or the door its self, if nothing is moving, then its the actuator, if you can hear the actuator moving, but there is still no heat, then its the mode door. if both are working, there is probly something wrong with your heater core.
