94 golf 1.8L engine?

94 2 door golf, 1.8L. 5spd

I don't know what trim level this is.

Whats with the 1.8L engine thought? I thought 93+ golfs were 2.0L DOHC 4 cyclinder engines. Is the 1.8 a 8 or 16 valve engine?

if you're in the USA... then the car you're talking about either doesn't exist or has had an engine swap. The Mk3 did not come with a 1.8l engine.

1.8L NON Turbo info.

You know what, I've been reading and reading and reading and looking for answers all over, webpages, forums, and Chapters (huge book store, like Indigo).

I just bought a 1994 Golf, and apparently it has a 1.8L. It's what the invoice said. I'm in Canada, but that doesn't usually make a difference. I dunno anything about VW or my car, and it's almost impossible to get a straight FAQ or any answers regarding VW in general. My car is plane jane 5 speed, no A/C, 2 door, power nothing, with a 1.8L.

I'm looking for any info regarding upgrading, such as supercharging or engine swap, and there isn't much on those. Mostly I see people talking about the 1.8T or VR6 and even there I can't find anything but people talking about Neuspeed.

Does anyone know anything about 1.8 NON Turbo? Where can I get the info? Thanks.

Re: 94 golf 1.8L engine?

The 1.8 (8V, 1781cc?) engine was in the 'CL' trim level; weaker than the 2.0 4-cyl that came in other mk3s ... availible in Canada but not the US if I am correct ... I think I read that the same engine was in earlier Foxes.
I'll try to dig up a little more info for you.
