1998 Chevy P/U Dimmer switch...

I have a wire off a terminal on the connector to my dimmer switch. The problem is, I cant get the connector off the switch to do anything about it. Can anyone give advice on getting this off. The wires seem to be soldered to the terminals inside the connector. Man, nothing is easy anymore.. Thanks in advance.

It is hard to get those things off. What you need to do is use a screw driver to release the connector lock. It is on the side of the connector. It keeps the connector from comming loose due to vibrations. Look at the connector, you will see what I am talking about.

After you get that loose, those termanals come out by sticking a needle(or something simular) along side them. Usually there is a small grove in each hole. Each pin has a small barb that must be released for the pin to slide out. They usually come out toward the wires. Some connectors have a wire lock on them too. It just snaps on the top of the connector around the wires.

If you get it out, you can go to the dealer ship and purchase a new pin(if you can explain where it goes to them). My dealer has a large case with all kinds of pins in it. Maybe you will be lucky. If you cant go to a junkyard(salvage yard) and buy the whole end of the connector. Leave yourself enough slack in the new wire for a good splice.
