AC Compressor belt HELP!

Is there any way to bypass the ac compressor? I mean, is there a shorter belt available so i can not run the ac. My compressor is tilted and its eating up my belt. 87' 944 non turbo 8 valve. If possible, wuts the size or part number? THe belt is down to only 3 knots instead of 5, and as a result, my alternator is not charging up. any help will be great.

Re: AC Compressor belt HELP!

i had the same problem.
you can't get a shorter belt, but you can get an A/C delete bracket. it is a pulleythat goes where your a/c compressor was. i can't remember where, but i saw one for like $130 bucks. certainly better than a $400+ A/C compressor. ask c'bass or 930guy where to get an a/c delete bracket... i'm sure they know something about where to get it.
peace.

Re: AC Compressor belt HELP!

You can buy the bracket or...Its real easy to make it. Here's how: Take the bottom bolt out of the Alt and make a slotted bracket that goes from the Alt to its original hole. As far as the belt-take your original one and cut it. Put the belt around the Alt and the crank and over lap the belt. Mark it and then take it to any auto parts store and they can match it up. Good luck and if you need anymore info just contact me at [email protected]
