'04 Civic EX
I swapped a Mopar stage 1 PCM/ECU into my '04 SRT-4 and it made a huge difference. My buddy has a '04 Civic EX, he noticed the difference in my car when we took a ride and asked me if he can do something like that for his car. I know nothing about Hondas guys...
Is a there an aftermarket ECU for his car that you guys can recommend, or are there better mods (CAI, exaust, etc) out there that will yield better returns for the same price or less? We live in California so whatever is done to the car will either need to pass smog, or be able to be "undone" before a smog check. He's also concerned about the warranty but for simplicity's sake don't worry about that if you have a suggestion. I will direct him to the SEMA website for warranty info if he has questions. |

Re: '04 Civic EX
Nothing can match the price and performance of the SRT mods. For like $200 you get like 200hp
Ok overexagerating, but it's crazy what SPO has offered for the SRT-4.For Hondas the only good power increase are FI. Turbo, supercharger. Bolt ons like intake, exhaust, and header might net a measly 10-15hp.

Re: '04 Civic EX
and that's with spending nearly $1000 on quality bolt ons. The motors just don't respond that well to modifications. Tell him to save up and drop a K20 in there, he'll definetely like that.

Re: '04 Civic EX
I'm getting the feeling Honda didn't plan on folks modding the engine on his car too much. Forced induction is, unfortunately, not an option. Is there even a company that makes chips for his engine...it's a 1.7L 130hp I believe?

Re: '04 Civic EX
Chips will not do anything either. And I don't know anyone who chips OBDII computers besides Hondadata, but I don't even know they do that unless you convert to OBDI.
