Turboing a b16 '89 CIVIC

Ok heres the story, my friend has a b16 civic, and now hes getting a turbo put in, but heres where i think hes screwed. The guy putting the turbo in has decided that the turbo is gonna go underneath where the spare tire sits, because the turbo is too big for under the manifold. now i might not know much about turbos but i think that this is not gonna work at all, can anyone back me up, or give me sum input.

Maybe they are putting the battery in the back by the spare tire to make room for the turbo in the engine bay?

Um that would work fine, all you need to do is put the engine in the back. Put the turbo like coming out of the hood, itll look cool and work.
