Not a bad looking car. I'd loose the wing, altezza's, and sponsor decals though. Bleh...

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
keep the altezzas, but i would swap the wing for one of metal. SHINNY!!! Sponsers are good, then you don't have to pay but just put your name on it!

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
Raley.... damn.... can I get a real world stick and beat you with it for a while? I'm sponsored by a few shops, and it's not as easy as that... at all... and you still have to pay for stuff sometimes. It's not a cakewalk a all.
I'm with Jon.. kill the wing, the tezzas, the fugly kit, and the stickers, make it a truly tuned sol, and I'll like it. There's a difference between a tuned sol and a showboat.... those pics are showboats.. designed to be like "look at me, look at me". Tuned cars are usually sleepers... cars that look stock, then hit a 12 second quarter. And what's up with everyone trying to make the sol something it's not? LM Edition my ass. There are TWO special edition sols... Daytona and Motegi. Anything else is just rice.

Cakewalk, i said nothing of the sort but they do help pay for things. And if its a showboat as you call it, it won't be to fast, seems to be faster then some POSs out there. and you said Tuners are USEALLY sleepers but not always. Raley |

In all honesty, it's a pretty good looking car for a showcar, but for my personal taste, I'd toss the Z3 fenders and euro side markers as well. I'm more for the subtle touch. Nothing wrong with items that tell people you mean business like an exhaust, lighter wheels, or a decent functional body kit, but most true tuners don't go out of their way to attract attention to themselves. They let the car speak for itself when someone challenges them.
Take this guy's Del Sol for instance. Looks great - practically stock looking. Nothing outlandish or overkill, and it's hiding a turbo'd B16A.

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
Raley..... you are suuuuuuch a newbie... did I say it was slow? No. Showboats usually are, but every once in a while you get a nice combination of power and some crazy looks. But you suggesting a metal wing on cars that are obviously show cars is like someone saying "Don't fix the scratch that was on the car when it came off the boat... it's a JDM SCRATCH y0!" To win at shows, you have to be unique, styled, and have a touch of class that puts you above the ricers and their fart cans and bench wings, and the cleanliness to put you above the people who have stickers all over their cars. I speak from experience. I'm not saying that my car is some show stopper shot caller or anything, but judges would rather see you save the $100 you would spend on a park bench aluminum ugly thing and put it towards something useful, or that will improve the look of the car. Save up another 100 and get an actual urethane wing if you really want a damn wing, or take the money and put it into the engine/interior. Trust me.. I did my whole interior to the point where it stands right now for $23. Does it look that way? Nope. It looks like I took it to a shop and had it pro done for about $600. Bottom line... euro lights (pleeeease stop insulting the incredible Toyota Altezza by lending its name to them), park bench wings, Type ARRRRRRRR stickers.. all of that shit is out.. like way out. Reserved for the common ricer. If you really wanna impress the world, find yourself a good shop, talk to the owners, and see about getting them to help you out.. they're usually more than willing if you have a plan that is original and would give them some notoriety. Point in case... my AWD project. You think I can afford this on my own and you're smoking crack. I'm a college student, and a poor one at that. I went around to shops in Athens and talked to them, then went to shops that I bought my other aftermarket stuff from, and basically said "Here's what I wanna do, here's how it's gonna get done, here's the numbers on doing it.. can you help me?" and I also had some kick ass portfolios. Ahhh enter the portfolio. The most important part of getting anyone to help you. In my portfolio was/is pics of my car from when I first bought it (stock), pics of all the mods that were done to it (like a pic of me putting the intake on, putting the hood on, doing the interior, etc), timeslips, and a complete, broken down to monkey simple walkthrough of how the AWD project is gonna be done. After a few presentations and more than a few phone calls, I should be up to start this project the day after school lets out. My point is is that if you're serious about going show, don't buy the euros, the wing, whatever... take some time, look at some serious show cars that are winning (s2k sol on this board, and a bunch over on the Team Sol International site), and get inspired by them. Then give it your own twist and make it your own.
And oh yeah... quit being so damn defensive! You = Newbie.. Me = Oldie. I help people, even though I may be a bitch about it sometimes. |

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
help, i haven't seen any so far. Newbie, yes. I will admit it, i haven't been into street cars for long but if people HELPED me then i could get out of being in the newbie class and then i could help others, but if all my ideas and thoughts keep getting thown down by you I will go no where. And about the stickers, if you are giving them credit you are basicly putting a sticker on your car without having it in pictures. Just put the sticker on one side and take pics of the other! What do Nascars have all over them so it all can be afforded? STICKERS, Have you ever seen a Nascar without any type of sponserships on it? NO!
Sorry we don't see the same way on things, but i still like aluminum wings better, give it a better look. and it stands out more. Atleast around here. |

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
Nascars =/= import show cars. If a sticker is necessary, IE a sponsor sticker, then by all means, display it, let everyone know who supports you. But there's a difference between doing that and having a line of stickers down the door for all the stuff you have on your car if they're not giving you anything. See the difference? Like the people who have the AEM, Yokohama, Rockford Fosgate, Type R, etc stickers all over their cars. If they're not getting anything from the companies, why be an advertising bitch? I have tooons of thos stickers.. almost every aftermarket thing I have sent me a bunch of stickers. Those are in my car's show scrapbook. The only permanent sticker on my car right now is girlspeed.org because they give me a hookup. The other two on my windshield are decals which come off at shows. And if you were looking for help in my posts instead of just being an ass, you would see it. Re-read my other post.. the big one.. I walked you through making a sponsorship portfolio, and gave you some valuable advice about showing and style. You want me to be nice then you're gonna have to cowboy up and learn to listen, not just hear. There is a difference. Until you do, you're still a newbie. And that's more advice, so don't say I never helped you with anything.

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
When i was talking about stickers i mean sponserships too, other shit is just bunk (yes i use the word bunk). If you just do stickers cuz you think your cool, go buy some ARP shit and stick it all over the place, also buy a can of chrome spray paint and paint your rims.
i didn't mean it as directly me, and i am sorry for being an ass. I've had a pretty bad last few weeks and have been really pissed off. So sorry, anyways thats for the info. Raley |

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
while you're at the store buying that chrome spray paint, why not pick up an aluminum wing?
![]() And no knocking painted rims.. mine are painted black, and one of these days I'm gonna get around to doing a chrome lip around them. |

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
chrome rocks... polished aluminum rocks... but unless you are in a drift car that needs one of those wings.... keep it off. And it's SHINY... not shinny.

Re: DEL SOL TUNING - made in Brazil
GRRR!! it doesn't really matter when the weight is getting pushed down, as long and your car is getting pushed down, it helps with cornering and this i know. Alil think that i have seen that use to make me laugh but not anymore is when muscle cars have a lip on the front for down force on the front of the car.
