new toy

Well, it's been a while since I last managed to get on here. Infact one of my last posts was to a thread entitled 'what is santa bringing you' and I must have been a good boy.

I went out and bought myself a new car. I am selling the 220 nasp as I now have a 220 turbo. It's as the badly lit picture shows, british racing green and has full cream leather. I got my alloys swapped over but lowering didn't go to plan due to seized bolts but should be lowered next weekend. She is standard engine wise right now and kicks out 200bhp but I already have a K&N induction kit on the way. This will be upgraded to a Blitz later in the year but that means relocating the battery to boot. A Collins dump valve is on order as is a blitz duel turbo timer to save me having to remember to keep the engine running before switch off. I need to get the gearbox fixed as it has a dodgy reverse gear but I new that when I bought it and got it at a seriously reduced price. once the gearbox and diff have uprated bearings I will up the boost to 1 bar where it will stay until I can afford to uprate the pistons and bits. I will also be getting a full stainless zorst and modifying it to have twin rear boxes though it needs to go to a bodyshop to get this done properly due to the design of the bumper.

It's been a fun month finding that scoobies are no longer something to pull over and let them fly past. the tables have turned and they now need to get out my way, the standard ones at any rate. I also had a very interesting confrontation with a Porsche Boxter who was very suprised he couldn't lose me. I'm not one to race people but people seem attracted to the car and I need to calm it down before Mr Policeman stops me. It's always the way when you buy a new toy, you just want to see what it will do.

Anyway, hope peeps are well

Re: new toy

A very nice little Civic Coupe you have there, its just a shame Rover didn't keep the double wishbone set up to handle that awsome engine.

They are seriously quick cars though, and IMO far more fun than a WRX, as well as being something a little differnt, and with a hell of a lot more class. How many Turbo coupes have leather and wood trim.

The gear box used, Im pretty is sure from the Honda Prelude, they just use a differnt gear set. It means should you have clutch trouble an aftermarket one for a Prelude will work, and even the factory Honda clutch should be strong enough, its certianly ment to be stronger than the unit Rover use (I know the K series powered rovers use the prelude gear box, and weaker version of the prelude clutch, and altough yours isnt a K series, Im sure it used the same box).

It also explains the reverse problems you have.
You may only need to replace the rubber bushs in the linkages, and or get them adjusted.
In the mean time slotting it into a forward gear first will stop the shafts spinning, and it should go straght into reverse, assuming all the linkages are lined up.

And if you can do it properly, take about and inch out of the ride height, makes them look much much meaner.

Re: new toy

Moppie, all 220 coupes came with 1/2 leather be it the nasp or turbo. a fair few had the full leather option but normally it is dark grey/black. Cream is a rarety. All the rover coupes had wood on the dash but I have converted mine to the MK3 200 bubble shape dash and cobered the wood in leather.

My reverse problem is the gear is breaking up and clonks in reverse. No trouble getting into the gear just as you move it goes clonk clonk clonk.
