Pearlizing question?

Hi, everyone I've been looking around the forums and have learned alot from the Tutorial page. but i want a Pearl look under the color I want the body, I was thinking is it possible to spray the body as normal but before the last mirror coat of paint could i mist chrome over the first couple of coats then the final coat?, I wonder if anyone does it this way?

tell me if my sig is too big cuz i'm still experimenting with my profile.

What color do you want the pearl to be? I think your best bet would just be to use a color which is allready pearl...it'll save you a lot of trouble. Also, since pearls are semi-trasparent, be sure to have a good base coat of either silver or gold before applying the main color.

Testors makes a gloss pearl overcoat. It looks good, but you must be comfortable using the thick, rather hard to spray Testor enamel sprays or it will be a disaster.

If you have an airbrush, you can do what I do with those thick Testors spray paints:
1. Get a piece of tube or drinking straw (1-2 inches long)
2. Get something (like a bottle cap) to hold however much paint you plan to use.
3. Hold one end of the tube tightly over the nozzle of the spray can.
4. Holding the other end of the tube right over your paint cup, spray the paint into the cup.

It should all go into the paint cup if you hold the tube on the nozzle tightly. The paint is already thinned, so you can put it directly into your airbrush. This technique works very well for me, and doesn't require any special tools or skills.

thanks for the ideas but i havnt been able to find testors paints in the color i want, i want it to be a dark purple pearl, also i havnt found much luck finding any pearl overcoat either. and for makava, your idea probably works, but i dont have an airbrush. I'm probably going to have to just keep it a dark purple without a pearl. unless there are any other suggestions

Hobby Link Japan sell a large range of Micro fine pearl powders which are available in a selection of colours. I've used these and they work really well!
You obviously need an airbrush to use these though.
