No Power Steering??
I have a 99 ford taurus and the power steering just went out the other day. I analyzed the situation and found that the return line coming out of the rack had a 1" crack where it blew out. So I replaced that piece of hose. started the car, sucked the ps fluid down through the resivior. I turned the car off and the fluid came back through the res. like there was back pressure some where in the line. I drove the car home. The next morning i drove the car for a half an hour . It still made a slight whining but not to bad. Started it up later that day and the same hose i replaced blew in the same spot. I got some Fuel injector hose and replaced it AGAIN! I also found a kink in the metal tubing part of the same linethat runs between the engine and the frame. I replaced that hose. That night I drove the car for about 35 miles no problems. In the morning I started the Taurus and the line I replaced first instead of blowing a gash in the side of the hose blew off of the nipple that it was clamped to. I have no idea what could be causing this much back pressure in the return line.
Any Advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
