|
New owner 87 GXL, what should I look for/replace?
I planned on replacing the water pump, spark plugs etc. Is there anything else I should look for? What are the common problem areas? I wouldn't mind replacing things premptively if it's not to expensive or difficult.

In addition to what you stated:
Replace Fuel filter, Plug wires, Thermostat make sure you ise a Mazda OEM Thermostat. Get a K&N drop in air filter or at least a new air filter too. If I can think of anything else I'll post up. BTW - I have a set of NGK wires (mazda OEM) I can sell you real cheap if you want them. I switched to Nology wires which are a little pricey but seem to me making a difference.
