? on getting rid of power hoping when launchine

just wondering if any one else had any other ideas about getting rid of power hopping on a launch or anyother time other than getting motor mount inserts or what other people do to get rid of them because i know pleanty of other people that theres do the same. i am driveing a 97 gs-t spyder with pleanty of mods but i cant seem to figure it out about this on my car we have gotten rid op the power hop from many of my buddies cars and stuff but the only thing i have found is motor mount inserts from jeg's which i will probably will help because they usually do but just seeing if there are any other things i can do. thank

Re: ? on getting rid of power hoping when launchine

Well by the term power hopping, I will assume you mean wheel hop. First, I hope you are not tacing it up to 5000 rpm's and dumping the clutch. Launches on a FWD need to take skill and to develop that you need practice.

Launches on these car's should be in the range of 3000-3500 rpm's. The clutch should be slipped and not dumped.

Suspension is where the cure for this problem will lay. Your suspesion has to be tuned for your application. I am assuming that you are drag racing. So, a pair of stiff rear shocks would do some good, preferrably an adjustible pair. Also, coil overs would help. This way you could lower the front of the car and it will assist with weight transfer by keeping the front tires biting on the ground rather than shifting the weight to the rear.

There are some good writeups on here about suspension from 95 GsxRacer. Do a search and you should come up with some other helpful information. Hope this helps

Re: Re: ? on getting rid of power hoping when launchine

i got the same ride and i hate that shit too. i was told basicly the same: motor mounts, suspension [lower front, stiffen rear], and get a Limited Slip Diff. other than that there ain't much you can do besides getting good at launching it. i launch at about 3300 rpm and have to be carefull because i'll get hop passing thru 4500 rpm if i have the boost set too high.

I just installed front and rear prothane inserts, I still get a bit of hop.
but it was reduced alot. the key is suspension, I'm still on stock suspension, so I'm guessing that my problem.
I was also told to try poly bushings.

Re: ? on getting rid of power hoping when launchine

i haven't run my car on a track yet, i'm waiting untill i upgrade the turbo and do some more fuel tuning. i have been street racing, and i'm damn fast, at least faster than most civics [other than HIGHLY modded ones and a couple of turbo CRX's]. there is a track around me that runs every week, but i haven't gone yet. i just don't feel like pushing an engine system that i know is not up to my par. street racing is fun and all, but i know i would be pushing the limits a lot harder on the track, and more than the 2 races i limit myself to on the street when i go. i beat an AT 16g GS-T that was claiming he ran a low 13 [1.5 car length], but that only made me doubt his truth on the ET, but also who knows when we passed the 1/4 mark. he did get me off the line by about a car and i passed him midway thru 2nd and it was close from there.

Re: ? on getting rid of power hoping when launchine

ic you will have to try the track it is fun and legal and i think you will be supprised i thaught i was fast as hell on the road and could beet alot of shit i even kept up to a honda s2000 with a 6 puk clutch slicks and safc and tons of other stuff and then i went ot the track and started running there and i thaught id run a mid 13 or so to but was very supprised one of my fastest times last summer was 14.560 but i should be tons faster this year with a different turbo and a bunch of other stuff but i have to get rid of the hopping because that is harder on stuff that i want it to be and the dif pin is the last thing i want to bread and then throw threw the trans all i can say is $$$$. but o well
does any one else have any answers to this and ashah000 i was going to to that but i cant have my car down for 1-2 days to let that cure unless i get a second pare of mounts from a recked car lot but we will see but thanks for the advice.
thanks guys

all i can tell other than what the rest of the guys have said is get that LSD. its the best u can do. i just got tein flex coil overs and their working and great and really minized the problem and helped so much on my launch but its just to much torque with out that LSD.
