Not like I drive that fast, but my speedo up and quit a while ago. HUD doesn't work either. Every now and agan (like 1 time in 20) when I crank the engine the in-dash display will show 0 and then fade away but nothing shows up on the HUD. Odometer still works fine Its a 92 sx and I've heard of others ppl having the same problem, but never heard a solution. Anybody got a suggestion (besides replacing the whole cluster or getting a new HUD & gauge set form DEFI)?

Re: My Speedo Quit
try unplugging the harress and plugging it back in. It seems to me that it is your led/hud part of the cluster. I would just replace that with a new one from the dealership which cost like over 200 just for that piece, or you can buy a used one on ebay(which there is one selling right now) or get one from the junkyard at www.car-parts.com. I do prefer used because it is cheaper, but you won't know if it will die out on you again....I hope this helps.

The problem could be a bad capacitor within the speedo electronic module. Other speedos have had the same problem. This is something that you can test for and possibly repair yourself. I was able to do this on my son's 1990 240SX. I documented the procedure and put it on a web page:
