difference between w58 and r154 transmission
whats the difference on the outside of the two transmissions? are they the same? i know the r154 tranny is stronger and made for a turbo supra. the reason i am asking is because i bought a supra turbo transmission but i think they gave me a non turbo one. Based on my haynes repair book, the tranny that i bought looks like a non turbo, w58. hopefully i am just mistaken. thanks for any responds

The R-154 is on the left, W-58 on the right. As you can see it's pretty easy to distinguish the two if you know what to look for, also the engine to trans mounts are different, and the trans tunnel bracket is different. The R-154 trans bracket bends back more while the W-58 one goes straight across.
