eibach sportline

I have just installed some eibach sportline springs on my 2001 honda civic coupe. the car has not dropped extreame, it only dropped about 1.3 inches. There is still a approx. 1 inch gap left. This is what i wanted. This car is brand new and i was wondering if i would need new shocks right away or will i be fine with stock shocks. Some people told me that the stock shocks will be fine while some people told me to get new shocks.

what do i do?

i also had another question.
when i dropped my car the wheel on the driverside was scraping in the wheel well when i made sharp turns. i have stock wheels right now too. after i got the alignment done the scraping stopped. can someone tell me why this happened?

also what is a good size rim and tire for my car?
I am going back and forth between 16 and 17 inch.

being new your shocks may last up to a year but dont count on it..your tire scraping was the alignment. it was thrown off as soon as you lowered it toe, camber, and caster changed..i would put on 17's with a high offset

There are several reasons why you would be banging the fender.
1.)Camber
2.)Your front struts

The reason I say the struts is because now that you dropped the car, you have reduced your struts compression stroke

Now the difference (just an example) is that the spring is shorter, which also as you can see reduces the travel of the shock. It loses part of its compression stroke, and on a stock strut/shock, these either cause, a bouncy ride or some sloppy handling or probably in your case, some banging the fender (which I do too)

This is one reason to get shocks designed for shorter springs, because Honda did not design that strut to compinsate.

Also think of it this way, how much weight would it take to drop your car 1.3" 4 passneger? Now think about how your car would handle with 4 passangers (minus the weight) tendency to roll etc.

Get new shocks as soon as possible. I recommend Koni Yellow Sports. Yes your stock may last you for 1 month to 1 year until they go bad, but you want to keep your stock springs and shocks in good condition in case you want to raise it back up to sell the car.
