1999 V-6 Dual Exhalst

I would like to add Dual pipes to my 1999 camaro V-6 3.8 model. My funds are only $500 or less. i would like to start there in the future I plan to add a turbo or supercharger with some other goodies. What system or set up can I get for this camaro that will give it good sound and boost HP around 5-20 with $500 or less? i ask you people because you have been doing this longer than I have and I don't want something that is going to sound like $hit. Any links to web sites or a sound bit file would be great. The only place I have noticed with sound bit files of there pipes and mufflers are Flowmaster-I am thinking of going with 1 pipe down to the muffler and going with the flowmaster 80's with daul pipes out. Will this sound good?

Re: 1999 V-6 Dual Exhalst

try edelbrock.com, i have bought their TES headers. havent put them on yet. and they are a bit smaller diameter than i was expecting 1.5in primaries. but i have heard good things. and the sound files i listened to were impressive. my total system, edelbrock headers, hi flow cat, and flowmaster american thunder 3in system, cost me 700 dollars. i am predicting it will give me around 15-25hp. but will be much more effective when i put on the ported and polished Vortec heads i have stuffed with 2.02 and 1.6 valves.

V6?

The Camaro you have , is it a 6 or V-8? That would make the dif.

What do you think of going with this set up?-Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust System from this web site

http://www.thunderracing.com/index.c...ategoryid=1035

i will add the headers later in a few months and a hi flow Cat.

$419 is just right for my pocket- for the magna flow. Anyone used this system and if so what did you think of the performance and sound. i don't want a RICER sound(sounds like they are fart-en up the road)

Re: 1999 V-6 Dual Exhalst

well, i have two camaros, both V8's. i havent personally delt with magnaflow, but i have heard good things. and no, its not a ricer sound at all. its pretty deep and mellow. not flowmaster, but same basic deal. my RS has dynomax on it, and i like the tone, very deep, sounds badder than it is, but its not very loud. even with a strait through cat. and it was dirt cheap, 180 bucks for the catback i think. and its been there for about four years now, no rust throughs, no leaks. im very happy with it.

Here's the deal...I have a 99' V-6 as well and I put an 80 series Flowmaster on it. For the price it's an okay quality product. I've had it on for almost 5 years and it's holdin out great. Depends on what area you live in whether it's prone to rust or other elements such as salt on the road. No matter what system you decide to go with, it's NOT going to sound like a V-8. In my experience, there is nothing you can do to your car to give it that defined growl (except to trade it in and get a Z28 or SS). Like I said, Flowmaster is a good deal but they don't have a lifetime warranty. Most of my friends with V-6's either go that route or get Magnaflow or modify the Borla system. Personally, I'm going to get an SLP Loudmouth for mine eventually, but that's pretty pricey. If you're looking for the closest thing to V-8 sound....get a cut-out as well. Quicktimeperformance.com has a really nice electric setup that's only around $180 for everything. Just remember, at low idle....it'll sound nice, but as soon as you put your foot into it....it's gonna sound like an elephant farting through a straw. Just one of the many drawbacks to having two less cylinders than our big-brothers...............I've got some pictures of my car and the cutout on a cardomain site if you're interested....check it out for any ideas. If you have questions, just hit me up......

This is the cheapest brand new Loudmouth I can find, and the price is the shipped price. Yes it says it's for an LS1 car, but I've seen them on V6's many times.

I love mine

Re: 1999 V-6 Dual Exhalst

i put the magnaflow system off of thunder racing on my 94 3.4L and it sounded awsome. sounded even better after some "tweaking and tuning" of the cat. its a pretty decent price for cat back.
