Gtp Vs Vette

I have a 1984 corvette with exhaust,85 fuel pump, new plugs/wires.and my frind has a 2000 GTP with exhaust, chip. Who will win in a race i heard GTP were fast? will i have a better chance from off the line or at a 15 mph roll because i think ill have a better chance from off the line cause vettes have 295 TQ at 2100 RPM relly good off the punch THANKS FOR ANY INFO!!!!

Sounds like a good race.

I say from a roll a V8 will take the almost stock GTP that is known for shitty top end.

Go from a dig, I think it will be a drivers race. Get some video of it

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

i think it would be close in a shorter race. your's should be quicker off-the-line and from a 15 mph kick...rwd cars have better weight transfer in acceleration with more grip from the tires, and yours is a little lighter i think. but in a longer race--top end you would definately have him.

When my 87 Mustang GT was new.. I could set an 84 Vette out 3 cars and pick him up...Even with my wife riding shotgun.. My Stang, all stock, ran 14.6's at 94 mph.. Those early 80's Vette's wern't that fast at all.. I think a stock GTP could get one..

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

can i get some of the stuff you guys smoke? No offense 84vette but late 70's to late 80's vettes were pretty lame. I just bought a 2004 gtp comp g and i think from rolling or standing start you would be in trouble. Also ripn12s "top end shitty" you need to take a 04 comp G for a ride and when your doing about 75 and punch it i think you would take back that remark. an 87 gt mustang stock=14.60s? mmm......

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

I know these numbers may have already been pounded into your minds but here they are. 2004 gtp comp g(better axle ratio than regular gtp..3.29.1)0-60= 6.6 1/4 mile=15.00@93mph top speed for gtp comp g is 138mph(mine for some reason does 142) and 126mph for regular gtp. But please guys and gals remember the guys testing these ar usually idiots(white collar pen pushers)and im sure they dont turn off the traction control which applys brakes and retards the timing.

Yep...With 2.73 gears, a 5 speed tranny, and stock GatorBack tires.. I can probably dig up an old timeslip and post it for you.. The same car went 11.6's at 119 with a Kenne-Bell supercharger on drag radials.. Stay tuned, it's gonna run low 9's this fall, with a turbo ..

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

Well lets see my car at the track---- 1/4 14.4 @96.2 mph I dont think you were blowing away 84 vettes by 3 car leagths i had a 86 stang 5 speed big whop it still not a vette! and my vette still could beat it!, and 84 vettes were not lame 84 vette pulled 1.8 G force at skid pad lets see a GTP do that! my friend test drove a 2004 GTP comp g all he said was whop de do! and i have a 2001 lincoln conti, with exhaust, superchip miro tunner,k&n,bigger injectors, maf, and i raced a 2001 mustang GT from about 30-120 and i beat him by about 2 car leanth, dont for get 2001 conti has the same engine as the mustang cobra!!!!! and im not putting down GTPs it just when people put down my car and say its not fast, and that year is lame it gets to me!!!!!

An 84 Vette was a 15 second car all day long.. If yours runs 14.4's that's great.. With a low 14 second car, why are you wondering what it will do against a GTP... ...

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

Man im almost afraid to say anything else in here but seriously 84vette IF your car really runs 14s thats great however i seriously doubt your friend said whop di after driving a comp g ig in fact he did drive 1 or maybe he didnt know how to drive it. also id like to se some facts on your 1.8gs look up the numbers on a z06 are you saying your car handles better than a z06?? what did you do for suspension and how much did it cost? also gtps can run high to mid 14s if you know how to drive. And 1 last thing i was an NHRA drag race announcer for 3 years so not to brag but starring at a compulink computer all day i got a fair idea on what alot of these cars run i also have a 12 second chevy powered 69 bird and i didnt say big whop after test driving my comp g. Please dont get all bent outta shape man i wasnt putting your car down and i am a chevy guy but if you do any kind of research and your reading you would agree with my last statement

Re: Gtp Vs Vette

sorry 84 vette Z-51 pulled 1.2 G and is the best handling vette of all time. After 84 they made the springs softer because of poeple complaning about how harsh it rode but it worth it!!!! and the only reasion y my bud said {whop de do} about the 2004 GTP was he thought it would be faster than this GTP but it wasn't.
