99 Accord Dashboard digital clock

Just bought a 99 Accord LX and I notice that the factory digital clock at the top-denter of the dash is not backlit. The only way to see what time it is at night is to turn on one of the map lights - far from convenient.

Questions are:

Is this the normal/designed behavior of the clock?

If not, how can I fix the darned thing?

Thanks.

That is not a normal operation for your clock. The bulb must have burned out. There is a bulb behind the clock when you extract it from your dash. Go to your local radioshack and see if they carry that bulb.

Actually, there are no screws. Use a flat head screw driver to pry the clock out of the dash. Start from the bottom. Also, if you ever wanted change your radio, the 3rd screw is right behind the clock to remove the center dash. (the other two are right under the center dash) After pulling out the clock, disconnect the wire harness fo both the clock and the hazards lights. After that look on the back of the unit and screw out the bulb. You should turn it half way and it should come out. Installation is the reverse.

Check out this link. It shows how to instal a radio on the 6gen Accords. It should help you

Good Luck

Go to the service department of any Honda dealer. It'll cost no more than $3

For the longest time I thought that my bulb was out on my 99 sedan, then one night I pushed on the clock and the light came on. Now, whenever the light goes out I just push the clock back in a little and the light comes back on. Started after removing the dash for my new CD player and some other goodies.

Your bulb is probably loose or something
