Smile Poor AM radio reception

A note for the members- My 2002 330XI had very poor AM radio reception. I took it to the dealer for repair. I used some of the information obtained from the forum for a guide. The dealer first said there was nothing wrong and they compared it to two other cars and there was no problem. I made the service advisor and the lead mechanic listen to the radio. The lead mechanic said it was a bad speaker. I told him that the distortion was coming from all the speakers. I argued with him. I told him to contact BMW to look for this type of problem. To make a long story short, he stated that he contacted BMW and they advised him there was a "software" problem with the AM radio on cars manufactured from 01-01-02 to 03-31-02. BMW authorized the replacement of the radio. This solved the problem. Be persistent!
