I have heard that drilled and slotted rotors warp and wear quicker than non-drilled rotors. I know the drilled/slotted rotors perform better, but I am using these rotors on an Acura RL so I don't need performance. Does anyone know if this is true, or if the warping can be avoided (i.e. gentle braking for the first 1k mi)? I am looking at Brembo rotors and have heard different viewpoints on drilling and slotting rotors in terms of wearability. If anyone can clear this up, I would really appreciate it.

Re: Slotted Rotors VS. Drilled Slotted Rotors
Contrary to popular opinion, they do not actually perform measurably better.
They are used to remove unsprung weight for handling purposes, and also for looks. on the other hand, if you are not doing serious braking, you shouldn't have a problem with warping/cracking. Best bet for a street-driven car is regular rotors. Larger rotors will help much more than drilled rotors of teh same size. And the argument that slotted/drilled rotors romeve the gasses that build up from brake pads is old. Modern pads do not create nearly as much gas as old pads do, and it is no longer much of a concern.

AP Racing are using J-slots because it reduce vibration.

Re: Slotted Rotors VS. Drilled Slotted Rotors
If you are going for the look, you can get slotted and dimpled. Drilled rotors tend to crack after 10K miles due to stress. Dimpled rotors are stronger than drilled and look just as nice.
