06 MBenz CLK

2006 Mercedes Benz CLK concept. Nothing special, sort of egg shaped concave license plate housing and new exhaust layout. Tell me what you all think of the design, technique etc. The colouring is all Letraset/Prismacolour markers, and the Paper is Letraset marker paper.
Took somewhere in the vicinety of an hour and a half including original sketches for ideas. BTW, I am 15 years old.

Heh, not pencil my friend. Letraset markers. I use Warm Grey 10%, 20%, 30%, 60% and 90%. I also used Tuscan Red and Black on that rendering.

Keep in mind the gradients are even tighter on the real version, but because of my scanner's bright bulb, it shows the layering. An example is the shadowing, it is supposed to be completely black, as on the original, but the bulb really picks out the thinner spots.

I have done a smudging pencil job, like asaenz's work, here's the back wheel.

Letraset markers
I wonder how those compare to Prismacolor markers.

How much are they?

Thx

I'll give you a new link in a sec.

Honnestly, I used the Prismas for the body it self. Letraset's Warm Grey series is a very pale yellow hue, so for body shading, it is rather a nuisance. The Prismas are a lot more of a bluish purple to them, which makes a good MB or Aston Martin body paint colouring.

The Letraset series is a bit more expensive, by a dollar or two, a wider variey of shades/colours. At one tip they're fat like the Prismas, but the other side is this really neat setup, where you completely take off the cap for a fine point, but you can remove the cap halfway for a superfine pen tip. It is really handy, you get all of the width range.

I think I'll do a front end job on this car, I like the design feel of it.

Bear with me, this is my first time using AF host.

You can go ahead and redraw the car. Like they say, give credit where it is deserved. Another thing is, keep the license numbers, just for kicks. Thanks, and good luck.

Thanks all for the comments.

Re: 06 MBenz CLK

Hey asaenz, correction on the markers. The Letraset markers are really Tria markers. The company that owns/makes these Tria pens is called Letraset. They have their name exponentially bigger on the label than the Tria logo. Sorry for the mistake.

Cool man, that is a nice benz. If I wasn't such a supporter of Italian Exotica, I would buy one of those! (if it was ever produced)
