Question '98 C/K 4.3l Vortec acceleration problems

When I put the pedal anywhere from half to all the way to the floor, the
engine won't go above 3000rpm regardless of what gear it's in or even if it's in park. If I don't put the pedal any more than about half the way down it runs fine but acceleration is slow. The fuel pump has been quite noisy for a couple of years, but it isn't showing any other symptoms of a
bad fuel pump, any ideas??

Thanks

How does the truck drive? If you're not experiencing any driveability problems, you're probably hitting the rev limiter set by the computer.

Severely limited acceleration. The rev limiter usually cuts it out at about 5000rpm, not 3000. If you accelerate slowly it seems normal but if you put the pedal anywhere past 1/2 it bogs terribly and won't go past 3000 rpm.

You might want to start with a check of the fuel pressure and filter.

Ok, this is going to sound a little stupid, but were do I find the fuel filter on my truck........I haven't purchased a manual yet and most of the previous service was done by the dealer.....not that it needed much.
Thanks

It should be mounted to the inside of the frame rail on the driver's side approximately where the rear of the driver's seat is located.
