Weird Problem....
The car: '98 Nissan 200SX SE, approx. 45,000 miles, Rota Slipstreams,
(15X6.5), everything else is stock. The problem: it's only happened three times, so far, and only on extremely cold days, (not sure if this is "a reason", though). I get off work in the morning, warm the car up a minute, then turn the wheels all the way to the left, and go; then I hear this really loud clunking noise from the passenger side. It's only happened three times, though. Whenever I try to recreate it, it just doesn't happen. I do hear a slight "whoop, whoop" noise when turning left, though, (like a heliocoper's rotors), but not all the time. CV joints look fine. I don't think the rotors are warped, because I know how that feels. I put the Rotas on with the slock lugs before, which f*cked up the studs, and made a similar clunking noise; but I've driven over 5,000 miles with the McGard lugs with no prob., except on those three instances. Any ideas? |

Re: Weird Problem....
Check your cv joints. They wear down and the cold might have messed them up.

Re: Weird Problem....
clunking sounds like cv's to me. woop woop could be a tire problem? maybe.

Well it happened again just about a 1/2 hour ago It sounds/feels
just like a flat tire, but I can't recreate it after I start off, (it only does this for the first two or three feet ). The first time, about a month ago, I could've sworn it was a flat, but the tire wasn't even underinflated. I'll check the CV boots again today. Anyone know the average wear of CV joints if you keep the boots intact? Thanks. |
