Re: Honda CBR: CBR600F for First Bike ???

Yeah thats a nice bike. Nothing wrong with a 600 as a first bike. I have an R6 and its my first and couldnt imagine myself on anything else. The only bikes I would advise against for a first bike are liter bikes. Such as R1, Gixxer 1 Grand bikes like those. The reason being is THROTTLE CONTROL. Very twitchy in any gear whereas the 600s are usually only really twitchy in first gear. So just take it easy and learn throttle control before you even think about riding on the main streets and freeways. But yeah thats a nice bike and the CBRs can be had for pretty cheap especially the 01s. Get that if you can but definately check it out first, ebay motors has screwed a few people I know so be cautious.

Re: Honda CBR: CBR600F for First Bike ???

Great bike, great price but none the less I have to disagree. I still believe a newer 600 can easily write checks a new riders skills can't cash. And for gods sake stay away from the newer liter bikes.
My personal suggestion for a first bike is the suzuki gs 500, any year. They can be had cheaply and are great bikes. Just get a bike your not afraid of dropping or worst case pitching down the road.
Whatever you decide, take a msf class, practice emergency manuvers, wear a helmet (leathers too if you can afford em') and enjoy your new bike.
