gsx reliability?

well its time to look for a car.
i wanted a gsx for how long now but as times grows near to get a car im having second taughts. i hear that he tranny on these cars go really quickly and doest take well to mods.. i know that these motors are very tunable. i m a regualr in this board but i want people opinion with these cars. are they really unreilable or is it a nasty rumor?
and is a good car for a college student that is broke alot?

I think my previous owner rallied all night and day...

Oh and for the record, I don't think DSM's are the most reliable cars ever. Big surprise? "turning drivers into mechanics since 1990"
