dead E150

Hi...Today my old 77E150 hit a pothole and everything electrical, including the engine, stopped. The battery still has a good charge (bought new last week) and I traced the wires to the alt. from starter relay and could find no sign of melted fusible link. There was a bare wire rubbing against the battery tray, but didn't look like a short occured..Is there another fusible link say between starter relay terminal and fuse box? I appreciate any advice in this area, except: geta new van..Thanks, Chip.

It was the fusible link...what a lame design...I hope the newer econolines aren't so fragile!

Could be the cutoff switch for the fuel pump. Check passenger side up by the vent, press down if it clicks try starting it then. If the cutoff switch is not there you may need to get a manual telling you where it is located.

They are still that fragile, I had a similar problem with a fusible link between my alternator and battery on a 97. It had to be replaced several times after hitting potholes or once after a fender bender. You never knew it happened until the idiot lights came on and you realized you were running on the battery and it was almost dead. Ended up installing a gauge to keep an eye on it.
