95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

Maybe there's another thread for this but I'm new to this car stuff and I wanna get into it a little more. I just got a 95 celica st and there isnt much power in it. So I am about to go looking for a engine so I can swap out my 7a-fe. I want to get the most power with the not tons of modification. If someone can tell me any good turbo engines i could use and what else i need to get it to work, Amount of $$ and the est. hp of it I would much a apreciate it. I wanna get my hp up to 350/400 range if possible.

also It would be awsome for of any other info. you think a noob to this car stuff should know.

thanks.

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

Hello and Welcome

this has been discussed over and over in the past.. try using the "search" function with key words such as :

3S-GTE swap
engine swap

There is tons of info on the internet...

look here:

http://www.celica.net
oR
http://6gc.net/

My suggestion would be to start out with the car/engine you want... it makes things a lot cheaper...

it's going to cost a lot of money to drop and engine in.. and then you'll need anther trans.. and then an ECU to run it... etc...

Cheaper to just buy a new car .. lol...

Yea

I know it would be expensive but I love the 6th gen style. I think it has a better look then alot of cars out there and its not the over bought ricer Honda. Its a unique style and everyone else likes it but everyone else beats me. I got 6 grand for a swap and Im hoping That that is close to enough. I want fast with style

thanks For the help!

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

Not to be rude, but that's a bit high. You can get a GT-Four RC clip for that price.

Difference being, Water_to_air Intercooler. Big difference.

A 3S-GTE front cut (non-RC) should run you ~$2100. RC fronts for ~$2500.

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

what would be the best gen of the 3sgte to get considering the fastest/most reliable. and the front clip has most of the stuff i need to get it running right? and the rear clip from an mr2 they dont bolt up right so I shouldnt get one of those. I got about 3 months to find all the info i need before I have to get my engine becasue the wait is killing me.

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

That is a difficult question to answer. There are many variables to consider.

I would say either 2nd or 3rd gen. NOT 1st gen.

I will take the time to explain this, but it is not written in stone or widely accepted. This is my humble opinion.

First you must understand that something needs to control fuel and timing. The Toyota ECU that you *may* get with a clip, is programmed for higher octane then we have available. So it is not recommended. An after market EMS/ECU is the best option. Add about $1500 for a EMS and some tuning...

Another note; the clips you most likely would get would be RHD. So you would need to extend the wiring harness or move the ECU to accommodate LHD.

2nd gen:

great start, cheaper, stronger ex. mani and turbo than 1st gen. Mathematically the injectors (430cc) are good for approx 270whp, at 100% duty cycle. So figure about 250whp at stock fuel pressure (~%80 duty cycle)

3rd gen:

more powerful. Uses MAP instead of AFM. Which you would want to make sure that you are getting all necessary sensors to make it work.

540cc injectors stock.
Water to Air IC stock on all 3rd gen 3S-GTE.
3rd gen CT-26 ("CT-20B") somewhat more efficient than 2nd gen CT26.

This info would lead you to believe that the 3rd gen is the best... only better imho because of the IC and Turbocharger, which can be installed onto the 2nd gen without difficulty.

Something else to consider is that the 3rd gen never hit the states.. so not every Toyota dealer is going to be able to source parts. This isn't a major dilemma, but should be addressed.

This is all I'm going to say. If you would like more detail, and you are serious about this, I can help via email or AIM/MSN , etc...

Best Regards,
CHris

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

The 3rd gen head is also "better".

Different intake runner design, also.

3rd gen is great if you know what you need to do.

I'm not saying you cannot make the same power with the 2nd gen. This, we can debate all day long... 90% of the high power 3S-GTE I've seen are 2nd gen...

Re: 95 Celica Engine swap?!?!?

on another note, the 2nd gen 3S from an RC/GrpA/CS, etc... has a Water - to - air IC also... but same 2nd gen CT26 and same 430cc inj.

There is a lot to list.. I may have missed points here and there.

Also the 3rd gen block is a little stronger. Possibly only late model 3rd gen. I can't recall.. there is too much info to remember sometimes..
