? for california car owners
in california,
maybe this is a stupid question but, with an 89 toyota supra turbo, will the DMV allow swapping a 5 speed transmission into an auto? like will the swap interfere with smog checks and the car's registration? i'm pretty sure it is ok to do the swap but i heard that you're not allowed to. thanks for any replies

California does have some crazy vehicle laws but I'm almost positive that swapping auto for a 5-speed is not one of them. It definetly shouldn't interfere with passing emmisions either. How would they know anyway, do they actually check the vehicle title over there to make sure it came auto from the factory?
