passenger climate control knob

my passenger climate control knob keeps popping off and its driving me crazy the knob its lf is still in good condition nothing broken or cracked but i am afraid one of these times it's going to fall off and out of the car...any quick fixes? i was thinking maybe glue but honesty i have played enough with it to see if that would prevent it from turning...

It would be a good idea to get another one. The one that you
have now might have cracked or warped in a very small way,
and that's causing it to fall off.

Mine did that too sometimes. There is nothing wrong with mine to the visible eye. I put a tiny amount of glue in the socket and put it back on. Heck, even a jot of a heavy grease or weatherstrip slicone would give it some holding power without permanently locking it down if you're worried about it.

Re: passenger climate control knob

A tiny dot of RTV silicone sealant will hold it, yet yield under pressure if you need to remove it.

Re: passenger climate control knob

It will probably only cost you $10 or $15 for a new one from the dealer. The knob fell off my fan speed control and I bought a new one for that. It was $15. I would rather not "jimmy rig" anything on my car. At least not to save $15. If it was $500, then i would jimmy rig it. But not to save $15.

I feel that way too, problem is the new ones don't necessarily stay on either.

Re: passenger climate control knob

Well thanks everyone I took the advice in ordering a new knob. At $16.00 it was worth it. so hopefully this one won't give me problems... if so it's time for glue... LoL

When I replaced the knob that was for the fan control on the dash, there was a plastic piece on the bottom that I wasn't sure if it was suppose to be there or not. I pulled mine off and it snapped on perfect. I would just pull that plastic piece out.
