lighting harness troubles

I have been running my fake HIDs for about a year, and just recently noticed that the driver side headlight kept buruning out. After reading a couple threads about fake HIDs, I checked my harness and lo and behold the plastic porto that surrounds one of the metal prongs had melted! In any case, I read that I could buy a new harness kit from pep boys...and I wanted to know will it be just as good as the OEM ones? meaning it can handle the same wattage etc? Its a matter of simply splicing the wires right? The stealership could not sell me just the harness, they only sold the entire assembly. My harness is actually still working, although today when i hit a bump the light went out for a moment. I figure that I will just run my OEM lights in it until the harnes just stops working, but I wanted to know of my options as to how I could replace it.

some aftermarket products do not pass the rigorous reliability and qualification tests, so probably best to go with factory....BUT, since your orignials melted, Id take out those 'fake' HID's and just use some lower wattage piaa bulbs on those pep boys stuff first.

but then again...might wanna just do this:
they call it a wireharness assembly, but all it is is just some wires and connectors. you can use different terminal clips if youd like and just keep the harness you have.

what are fake HID's anyway?

Normal bulbs that have a blue or purple hue and the package says "HID!"

Actually there's always some Japanese characters and then in English it says HID.. what it really says is... "You are a fool if you think this is HID!"

I guess the one thing Ive learned from all of this is that either stick with the factory or get the REAL thing..otherwise u'll end up spending more $$ in the long run......fake HIDs <--BOOOOOOOOOOOO!

We were actually gonna do this with my brothers car. Get this, the dealer quoted him $800 to fix JUST his melted harnesses! What a joke.
Anyways, thought my car was bulletproof and then just checked the other day.. I have dead harnesses too! Woohoo!

I didn't know anything about the wattage of bulbs my car took so I took it to some shop. The guy probably had no clue either but decided to just stick some in there anyways. Lo and behold they were 85/100 watt bulbs, which were sure to melt my harness! What people will do for a sale.. makes me sick :apuke:

Same problem here on my P11. Melted my fogs. Before I replace my wiring harness, could there be another problem?? Any other part melted, besides the fuse or the wiring harness? Thanks.
