Add grease fittings?

I see my 2002 does not have grease fittings on the ball joints. I do not trust "permanently lubricated" ball joints or other suspension components for that matter. I wonder if I should add grease fittings after the warranty is up and I have 40000 or 50000 miles to prevent early ball joint failure?
Any thoughts from you gear heads out there?

Re: Add grease fittings?

Personally, I have to agree with you. I'm assuming you 're talking about overall chassis lubrication. If you have plugs, remove them and put in some grease fittings. As for waiting until after the warranty is up or putting 40,000 to 50,000 miles on it, you might as well do it sooner rather than later. Chassis lubrication should be a scheduled maintenance performed every year or 7,500 miles whichever comes first. Hope that helps.-Bill

Re: Add grease fittings?

I'm not drilling any holes in my car's ball joints.
I have several 200,000 mi. Chevy Luminas in my fleet going to auction. None of them have worn ball joints. None have grease fittings, either.
The "oldest" has 240,000 miles and the ball joints and tie rod ends show little, if any, neglegable wear.
