increase RPM and high revving?

what can i do to make a bseris engine get higher rpm or rev harder? typically a b18 would rev 8900-9xxx rpm... so is there any way to get higher revs? and also what engine would have a good hard rev?

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

GSR they redline at i think 9200 rpms or type r there, i think 9500.... if you change the ECU with a ecu from a motor like GSR that has a high redline stock that should have the same effect on your motor as it would on the gsr it cvome from. but why do you want to rev so high?

what are you guys talking about ? a b16 99 01 si will redlines at 7900
b18c gsr redlines atg 8100 a type r b18c5 redlines at 8400.
you can up grade your ecu to rev higher but you have to makesure you head can handle it you will need valve springs and retainers. and cams to actually make power cause a car can rev to 11000 rpm that doest mean its making any power up there.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

yea, i agree. definatly will have to have an ECU upgrade. possibly a whole new valvetrain (depending on how high you want to rev), but definately new springs. hey, why not save all that trouble and sell your b16 to buy a spoon engine. that will easily rev to 12K.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

lol, well change the ecu and everything else you want, but that tach you have on your dash will have to be cut out.. and a new High rev guage will have to be put in.. your stock guage probably only goes to 8,000RPM before the ECU cuts fuel to the engine.. tach will have to go. And revving up to 10,000 RPM you'll have to have some serious engine mods..... cuz if you try and rev that high with your stock internals, your engine will actually skip intake and exhaust, causing you to "blow" your engine. can also damage your cam, when the springs actually go to work, and bring the valves back down on the cam (like a hammer).. revving that high on a stock motor is a good way to kill it.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

and if you just want to rev faster, remove your A/C pump, steering pump, and put on lightweight flywheel, and lightweight cam gears. you will drop revs and rev faster than hell. meaning you will accelerate a bit faster, and also drop your revs all that much faster when your foot comes off the gas..

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

hey killa your close but not quite on the valve train thing. u guys ever heard of volumetric pressure??? its the amount of air that can flow through the intake runner and into the combustion chamber. and the amount of air that can flow from the combustion chamber and out the exhaust.so i know what your thinking al ready port the intake runners. that will have to be done but by a professional. you mess up the flow of air/fuel to the cyclinders you run the risk of leaning out one cyclinder. also ignition will have to be up graded to a multiple spark discharge atleast 6 pulses per second, and 100,000 volts. back to the cam thing killah, if the valve springs are stock and cannot handle the high rpms. point and case, the valve springs are two weak and do not pull the valve back into the head before the piston comes up for the next stroke. then you generally have a problem with valves either hitting the piston (i.e. interfearance engine) or the valves will "float". causing the engine to die. also think about reciprocating assembly. balencing the crank, rods, and pistons, can make higher revvs possible because of less rotational inertia, simalar to the lightened flywheel, underdrive pulley, and removeal of ac, power steering, and such.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

a spoon engine is a specially built engine from Spoon Sports made for NA power (you wont want to turbo charge it because of such a high compression). i'm not sure, buy maybe www.spoon-sports.com might have it, or you might try www.inlinefour.com. ask them and they should be able to tell you where to get one. but be prepared to spend around 12K i think.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

Common!
A GSR engine does not rev higher than a Civic SI engine. The civic SI 99 engine limiter is at 8225 RPMS while the GSR is less than 8K.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

Holy fuck, I can't believe the BULLSHIT in this thread has made it past a mod.

Stock valve train, don't make power past the fuel cut off, Honda is pretty good about edging peak power and the motors ability to hold together. Anything further and you're streching your timing belt, vales are wanting to leave their seats, and you spinning your bottom end much to fast, so on that note, PLEASE do swap your ECU for one with out a fuel cut off, there will be one less moron on the fucking road.

Re: increase RPM and high revving?

jcrx, that's fucking hilarious!! Telling dude to go blow his motor!!!!!! I can't get over it.

Just revving higher doesn't mean you damage the engine less, it means MORE!! Build your motor, get the hp, and the quickness will outweigh the revving desire. Good luck, whatever you do.
