Don't try getting help here these guys either don't know anything or just don't answer because they're asses.

I don't know about twin intercoolers but the twin turbo engine you saw was probably from a 1990 or above 300zx factory says about 280hp and only a 5 speed tranny came with it Strong motor though hard to blow up.

The 300zx engines are 280hp, they did not come out with a 6 speed box.

The J-spec was actually more powerful than the US version.

This should explain it for ya's.

The durability of both engines is very close. They are basically the same, thus JDM motors are sold here in the US as replacment motors.

The main difference between JDM and USDM is the turbos on a 5 spd that is. With the JDM automatic the turbos AND cams are different. Anyways the JDM motor has smaller turbos which produce less hp than USDM but spool faster and max hp is realized at a lower RPM, but when you combined JDM no precat down pipes and adjusted fuel curve for higher octane then it produces more than 280hp.

If you need to know anymore. email me at [email protected]

I've done 4 NA-TT swaps and 1 on my own car. www.cardomain.com/id/kip916

Re: jdm engines ...

no need to be so ANAL with redcomet people!

Intresting tidbit I came across about the JDM VG30DETT and other JDM engines: in Japan people junk/sell/get rid of there cars after a few years to avoid TAXATIONS! Something about older engines and more gas-guzzling.... that's how we get LOW-MILEAGE JDM ENGINES! If the VG30DEtt is in fact more powerful than officially stated (I REALLY DO BELIEVE THIS 'cus the R34's RB26DEtt reportedly made only like 286 hp when in FACT it makes like 300hp!) and with lower mileages... people looking for a TT swaps can stumble onto a gem in the rough!

Re: jdm engines ...

If anyone is interested in purchasing any JDM engines, just give me a shout, I can help you out. But I was always under the impression that if you have the option available to you, to go ahead and get a USDM VG if at all possible. Easier to drop in, is this true Kerney916? I cant say I really need the TT hp, my NA will do just fine for now . Peace foo's
