GTP electrical

New member here with some electrical problems. The 10amp interior light fuse on my 2000 GTP keeps blowing. Have checked some of the obvious things, but am really lost. I don't want to take it to the shop if I don't have to. Any suggestions on how I can wring this out? Thanks!

Re: GTP electrical

something is shorting somewhere if you've checked the obvious and found nothing. You're probably going to have to chase the wiring to find the problem.

Re: GTP electrical

I told the guy you would have the answer. Now your making him wait? I was going to run an ad in the local paper, for you to reply to car problems. Not any more. Only kidding. It's in the Tampa paper. Told them to call you collect.

Re: GTP electrical

I heard of problems with a slight water leak on some of the 97/2003 w/sunroofs and that might be the problem and shorting out the bulb.

Re: GTP electrical

Id try and drop it down to a 15 amp and see if that works.....you have a problem some where and the 10amp fuse keeps blowing because of a short and that is about the max for the wires, with a 20amp you are just covering up the problem and there could be a chance that it will get the wires to hot and burn some stuff up.So give a 15amp a try, because you are still covering it up but it wount get the wires as hot as the 20amp fuse .

Have you tapped anything else electrical into ANY of the light/accessory plugs? I had the problem when I first added more lights off hte existing string and then again when I plugged a 500w power inverter into the cig plug...

Put an extra set of neon lights on your car, they make you go faster. =)
