Talking Jaguar R5 breaks down on maiden lap

Haha. First, I'm still as disgusted with their choice of a driver as I was when they announced it.

And secondly, the car was launched yesterday, and then it breaks down on its maiden lap. I know it's probably nothing major, but I just can't help but chuckle when it's taken in the context of JR denying there's anything faulty with the car. An article from Pitpass:

Despite the hyperbole, the track debut of the new Jaguar R5 didn't work out quite how the Milton Keynes outfit expected.
Following today's launch Australian Mark Webber took to the track in the car with which the Ford-owned outfit hopes to dominate the mid-field, only for the car to break down on its maiden lap.

After a break that lasted a couple of hours, while the team attempted to rectify the problem, understood to be related to the gearbox, Webber returned to the track for a few demonstration laps, leaving 'the cat' with its tail very much between its legs.

On Friday, following a report in British magazine Autosport that the R5 had an inherent 'fault', Jaguar's Nav Sidhu told pitpass: "We're not planning on doing a handful of laps on Sunday, it's not going to be a basic shakedown for the cameras. "We've done enough testing of this car to know that on Sunday we'll be generating significantly more laps than you'd otherwise get on a first-day shakedown.

"If this car has been born with faults then it's going to be quite apparent on Sunday afternoon," he added.

Quite.
